Glazed stoneware, photographic paper.
Work made in response to 'Latent: From our Archives' a Magdalen Road Studios show for Photo Oxford Festival 2023
Some of my sculptural clay pieces have inbuilt channels describing patterns of confluence between their internal and external spaces. Often the only indication of the presence of these channels is an opening on the external surface of the object. In this instance the aperture is integral to the purpose of the object as a pinhole camera. The object can then produce a photograph as a record of the light that flows in, to evidence its latent capacity.
